Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary
Richard Edwards graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales and is a member of CPA Australia and the Securities Institute of Australia.
Following eight years as an owner/manager of his own retail business, Mr Edwards has worked for over ten years providing financial reporting and company secretarial services to a range of publicly listed companies in the mining, health care and leisure industries. He is currently CFO and Company Secretary of ASX Listed Callabonna Uranium Limited.
Matthew Charles Farmer BSc, MAusIMM
Exploration Manager
Matthew Farmer is a British National and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Auckland New Zealand. Matthew is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Society of Economic Geologists (USA).
Matthew has over 28 years experience in exploration and mining mostly focused in South East Asia. His experience spans a mix of major and junior companies including BP Minerals, Newmont, and more recently Tiberon Minerals and Triple Plate Junction.
Vijayan G Nair
Financial Controller
Vijayan G Nair was appointed as a Financial Controller of Sumatra Copper and Gold Indonesian Operations in May 2009. He is an accountant with more than 20 years experience in the mining and exploration industry.
Vijayan has broad experience with finance and administrative functions with a number of successful companies including Avocet Mining plc. He has also been involved in financial reporting procedures at most of the major stock exchanges including AIMS, TSX, & ASX. He has worked in many countries including Malaysia, Tajikistan, Armenia, Portugal and also Papua New Guinea. Prior to that, he served as a Tax consultant with Ernst & Young.

David Stock BSc (Hons) Geology, MAusIMM, FGS
Consulting Resource Geologist
David Stock, a British national with 30 years experience in exploration and mining, joined Sumatra Copper and Gold in April 2007.
A graduate of Kingston Polytechnic, London, with an honours degree in Geology, he began his career with Anglo American/De Beers in South Africa and Namibia. He has subsequently worked on gold projects in Ghana, Tanzania, Malaysia and Russia. In recent years he has specialised in resource evaluation and has been instrumental in guiding the development drilling programs at Tembang.
Steve Garwin BSc, MSc, PhD (distinction), MAusIMM, FSEG
Consulting Geologist
Steve Garwin is an American National who obtained his B.S. from Stanford in 1984 and M.Sc. from the University of British Columbia in 1987, both degrees in the field of geology. He was awarded a Ph.D. in geology (with distinction) in 2000 from the University of Western Australia.
Steve blends a distinguished academic background with more than 22 years experience as an exploration geologist with large and small mining companies working in SE Asia, China, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, western USA, British Columbia, Mexico, Peru and Chile. He worked with Newmont Mining for ten years, including two years as chief geologist – Nevada.
He has extensive knowledge of porphyry, epithermal and Carlin like-systems and applies methods of structural geology and geochemistry towards gold and base-metals exploration. He has been involved in several successful exploration and mining projects, which include the Batu Hijau porphyry deposit, the Indo Muro epithermal vein system and the Mesel sediment-hosted deposit in Indonesia; mines of the Carlin trend and Battle Mountain district in Nevada; and the Whistler porphyry deposit in Alaska. Steve is an independent consultant based in Perth, Australia. He has been an adjunct research fellow at the Centre for Exploration Targeting at the University of Western Australia since 2001.
